Intended use
PiEEG devices are intended for educational purposes, research applications, hobby and DIY projects, brain-computer-interface development, learning neuroscience, prototyping, and experimentation.
Not intended for

User responsibility
By purchasing and using a PiEEG device, you acknowledge that you are responsible for the decision to use it, for operating it safely, and for understanding that it is not approved for medical use.
- Do not use the device for medical diagnosis or treatment.
- Assess and accept the risks associated with the experiment.
- Stop the experiment when safe operation cannot be confirmed.
Safety precautions
Critical electrical rules
- Never connect PiEEG devices to mains power while they are being used with human subjects.
- Always use battery power while measuring human biosignals.
- If you have a pacemaker or another implanted medical device, do not use the equipment without first consulting a physician.
Discontinue use if discomfort occurs. Keep equipment away from water and moisture. Do not modify electrical-isolation circuitry. Follow appropriate electrode-placement and skin-preparation procedures, and inspect the equipment before each use.
Electrodes and skin contact
- Use recommended, compatible electrodes.
- Follow appropriate skin-preparation guidance.
- Discontinue use if skin irritation occurs.
- Clean and disinfect reusable electrodes between users.
- Replace electrodes according to their instructions.
Data privacy
Users are responsible for protecting collected biosignal data. Obtain informed consent before recording another person and implement appropriate data-security measures. Follow the data-protection and research requirements that apply in your location and context.

Limitation of liability
In no event shall PiEEG, its developers, manufacturers, or distributors be liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from the use or inability to use PiEEG devices, even if advised of the possibility of those damages.
